I’ve started a new group, “Union Micro Quality Assurance,” which will be a group for beta testers. I haven’t quite figured out the exact mechanics of how it will work yet, but basically you will be given time-limited beta products from me, and will be paid L$ for every NON-REPORTED bug you find (i.e. no one else has reported it). A little more fun than camping, I would think. 🙂
Bugs will be reported via the beta forum at UnionMicro.net. You will need to sign up on the forum and be invited to the testers group, so you will need to send me your forum login name. So, here is more-or-less how it will work:
You acquire the product you wish to test. When you find a bug, you head over to the Union Micro beta forums
and create a new reply in the topic that corresponds to the product you are testing. Assuming no one else has posted your bug, you will be rewarded for your find.
Guidelines
Must be reproduceable!
- You will have to figure out what steps are required to make this bug appear.
- Bugs that I can’t reproduce myself will be subject to no reward, or maybe a smaller one.
Protect yourself!
- If testing a product that deals with money, be aware that you are testing it for a reason and it may give away all of your money if you find a nasty bug! I can’t stress this enough, pay your extra money into an alt or something like Ginko! Better yet, sign up an alt for testing instead of your main.
Use common sense.
- Don’t report something as a bug that is in actuality a problem with Second Life itself.
- If you’re not sure whether the problem is the product or SL, then report it just to be safe.
Do not use beta products in production environments, do so at your own risk.
- I.E. Don’t deploy the beta version of RentTrack across the grid for your rental business.
- However, you could deploy this on a select few tenants who you trust should any money be misdirected.
